Abstract

Retrospective analysis covered stages of formation and development of Occupational Pathology center in Rostov region, its structure and functional interrelations, information basis and scientific methodic supplies of its activities. The authors summarized materials on organization of diagnostic survey, treatment, prevention of occupational diseases in miners and workers of various economic branches, of medical rehabilitation of patients. The article covers development directions of system concerning workers’ health preservation in regional occupational pathology center.

Abstract

The authors specified a method of comparative evaluation of life span for individuals with occupational diseases and general population of corresponding age and sex. The method was tested on materials of database from Rostov regional

Occupational Pathology center. Comparative analysis covered age and death causes in 8082 coal miners with confirmed occupational disease, who died during subsequent 26 years (01/01/1990–31/12/2015), and data on male population mortality in Rostov region over the same period. The method specified helped to define that life span in the miners with occupational disease is shorter by 2.9 years vs. that in general male population of the same age.

Total share of death with diseases considered occupational or occupationally conditioned in miners equaled 93.3% in the main group, and the share of other causes is less than 7% vs. 33.4% in the general male population of Rostov region.

Testing of the suggested methodic approach proves that it can be applied for comparative evaluation of life span and structure of mortality causes in individuals with occupational diseases in various regions of the country, for various occupational groups or certain entities (nosology types) in occupational pathology.

Abstract

Th e article presents results of analytic epidemiologic study of mortality in coal miners cohort in Rostov region, who had occupational disease registered in various years. The cohort included 9980 males, the observation period was 26 years (01/01/1990–31/12/2015). Deep analysis of mortality with leading death causes in subgroups of coal miners differentiated by length of service in underground conditions. Standardized relative risk of death in the subgroups increased with longer length of service, with respiratory diseases, circulatory system diseases and malignancies.

The authors studied mortality in subcohorts of the miners with leading and auxiliary occupations, whose work conditions differ in intensity of exposure to occupational hazards. For the workers with leading occupations, standardized relative risk of death with respiratory diseases, circulatory system diseases and malignancies was higher.

Abstract

Complex study of work conditions and health state covered workers of electric locomotive construction plant. Occupational health disorders appeared to be highly reliably associated not only with traditional factors of work and working process, but also with psycho-social occupational factors. Findings were leading types of diseases in the workers, prediction of health risk from circulatory system diseases. Based on integrated approach to evaluation of work conditions, workers’ health care and well-being at workplace, the authors specified and scientifically justified a complex program of health disorders prevention for workers of major electric locomotive construction plant.

Abstract

Occupational burnout in teachers is a multi-factorial process. Th us, the authors performed a complex study of risk factors for occupational burnout of teachers in primary comprehensive schools, secondary comprehensive schools and auxiliary schools in Rostov region. Findings are reliable correlations between occupational burnout in the teachers, work conditions and psycho-social occupational factors. Integrated approach to study of occupational burnout predictors was a basis for specifi cation of a program for complex prevention of occupational burnout in educational sphere workers, with consideration of their work conditions, psycho-social risk factors, health state, life quality and performance.

Abstract

Complex study covered work conditions of teachers in primary comprehensive, secondary comprehensive and auxiliary schools in Rostov region. Analysis included data of cards for special evaluation of work conditions, according to which the work conditions correspond to 2nd class (allowable). Specified “teacher questionnaire”, timing cards, teachers’ professiograms were used. Analysis of the study results demonstrated that examined intellectual, sensory, emotional exertion, and work schedules in certain parameters correspond to class 3.2 (intense work). The data obtained necessitate the teachers’ work conditions class to be specified according to working process intensity in special evaluation of work conditions.

Abstract

Integrated approach to occupational health preservation is based on complex consideration of work conditions (factors of working environment and working process, and psycho-social factors) wiThevaluation of health state and management practice of employer, coordinating topics of work safety and health preservation for workers engaged into electric locomotive construction plant. Based on integrated approach, there is a possibility to specify complex preventive program including work safety, worker health and well-being at workplace.

LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Interstitial lung diseases caused by exposure to agents appearing at workplace is an important group of diseases that could be prevented. A term “occupational interstitial lung diseases” in national literature occurs rarely: traditionally these are defined as pneumoconioses. Occupational interstitial lung diseases are caused by various agents some of which are known in details, but others are hardly described. The article covers description of new risks and forms of occupational interstitial lung diseases occurrence, research and analysis of foreign literature matching requirements of evidence-based medicine. PubMed database was tested via following key words: professional ILD, pneumoconiosis, extrinsic allergic alveolitis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, occupational risk. The data analysis demonstrated that occurrence of new risk factors necessitates occupational therapists to study occupational route and interdisciplinary character of the disease diagnosis, for registration of each type of interstitial lung disease.

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality all over the world. Tobacco smoking is a main risk factor, but nearly 15–20% of COPD cases are caused by occupational exposure (to dust, gases, vapors, fibers). The review is aimed to search and analysis of literature on occupational COPD from evidencebased medicine viewpoint. Systemic search of literature covered databases of PubMed, Google Scholar, Cyberleninka, using a key word “occupational COPD”. As a result of the search, the authors selected 6 systematic reviews and 9 clinical studies for further analysis, proved cause-effect relationship between exposure to occupational factors at workplace and COPD. With that, occupational exposure contributes more significantly into formation and peculiarities of COPD course, than tobacco smoking does. Topics of phenotyping, early diagnosis, treatment peculiarities and pulmonary rehabilitation for occupational COPD patients remain unresolved.

Abstract

Lately, locomotory diseases defi nitely take one of the leading places in morbidity of medical staff ers — that is due not only to occupational exertion level, but to infl uence of climate and ecologic factors. The authors analyzed morbidity from locomotory system diseases in workers of various medical institutions.
